Plan Audits
Employee benefit plan audits are high risk and highly specialized, so selection of a quality plan auditor is crucial. Our plan audit team has over 50 years of combined experience in auditing plans of all types and sizes. We have a strong reputation in the employee benefit plan audit market and are highly respected in our region. As an RSM Alliance member, our firm has access to resources to assess the most complicated plan issues. This gives our employee benefit plan clients the advantage of large firm resources and expertise coupled with the close personal service of a locally owned firm. We are able to address your plan’s specific issues while sharing best practices from our extensive experience. Our goal is to partner with your organization so we can help your plan perform at the highest levels, both today and in the future. The types of plan audits we complete include the following:
- Defined contribution plans
- Profit sharing plans
- Money purchase pension plans
- 403(b) plans
- Defined benefit plans
The plan audit team completes annual continuing education in order to stay updated on the latest plan audit requirements and hot topics. Benefit plan audits have been a niche practice area at Weinlander Fitzhugh for many years. We do not treat plan audits as “filler” work. Each plan audit file goes through a rigorous quality control process with multiple levels of review to ensure compliance with audit standards. A recent examination of our audit files by the Department of Labor revealed zero deficiencies.
Form 5500
Form 5500 is a required filing for all qualified plans to fulfill their responsibilities under Title I and Title IV of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and the Internal Revenue Code. We have extensive experience in preparing Form 5500, either as part of your plan audit or as a standalone service.
